"In Light of the Gospel" Interview
I recently sat down for an interview with my friend Dan Blatz where we spent time reflecting on life and ministry.
Feel free to watch this interview on YouTube or listen on Spotify. Both are embedded below if you want to stay here.
Summary: Dan and I have known each other for years and when we first worked together close to two decades ago, we were at very different points in our journeys.
He had a strict, legalistic upbringing, and when he became a Christian that intensified. Meanwhile, I grew up with more freedom to explore my faith and struggled more with license than with legalism.
We didn’t always see eye to eye then, but over time, as we matured in our understanding of the gospel, we found ourselves agreeing on many things we once debated.
We also touched on the struggles we've both faced, particularly around leadership conflicts and the sometimes heavy burden of serving in the church. And I shared about my own journey in ministry, especially the transition from pastoring to founding The Shepherd's Refuge.
All in all, this conversation revealed God’s goodness and faithfulness to us as he has directed our paths to intersect in ways we never expected.
